Join us in March 2026 for a 8 full days saltwater fly and spin fishing adventure in one of the most exciting and untouched fisheries on Earth. From the turquoise waters of the Red Sea to the rugged volcanic shores of Lake Ghoubet, this trip combines world-class fishing with the raw beauty of East Africa. Giant trevally, triggerfish, cubera snapper, barracuda, king mackerel, and a host of reef species patrol these waters — and every cast could connect you with the fish of a lifetime.
Trip Description
Flights: Flight to Djibouti Airport. There are flights every day with Turkish, Qatar, Ethiopian, and Fly Dubai airlines.
Capacity: Max 6 rods per trip.
Fishing methods: Fly Fishing & Spinning
Fish species: Giant trevally, king fish, coubera snaper, grouper, napoleon wrasse, trigger fish, milk fish and other saltwater species.
Climate:Djibouti has an arid desert climate, with extremely hot, dry summers often above 40 °C and short, mild winters with very little rainfall. In the spring Djibouti is hot but more bearable than summer, with daytime highs around 28–32 °C, warm nights, and occasional light rainfall.
Skill Level: Spin fishing and fly fishing in Djibouti demand advanced to professional skill levels, as anglers must handle powerful saltwater species in challenging conditions, including strong winds, high temperatures, and often remote, rugged environments.
Trip Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Djibouti
- Arrival at Djibouti City airport.
- Meet our local guides and transfer to hotel for overnight stay.
- Welcome dinner and briefing on the week ahead.
Days 2–4 – Muchas Islands (3 days)
- Boat transfers to the Muchas Islands, home to pristine coral reefs and abundant fish life.
- Fishing for GT, triggerfish, groupers, snappers, queenfish, and reef predators.
- Mix of fly fishing and spinning opportunities.
- Overnights in island bungalows, right by the water.
Days 5–8 – Lake Ghoubet (4 days)
- Transfer to Lake Ghoubet, famous for its deep blue water and dramatic volcanic surroundings.
- Shore and boat fishing for GT, king mackerel, groupers, cubera snapper, and Napoleon wrasse.
- Perfect for sight-fishing to triggerfish and other flats species.
- Evenings spent in rustic local camp, immersed in the African atmosphere.
Day 9 – Departure
- Return to Djibouti City.
- Souvenir shopping and optional visit to Lake Assal (lowest point in Africa).
- Transfer to airport for flight home.
