A brother from another mother, Christo is my teammate from when I competed internationally. He is my right-hand guide when it comes to fly fishing trips and guiding in Bulgaria. When he is not fishing, he works in his gardens, which he likes to call Microcosmos, growing some amazing vegetables served in the best restaurants in the country. He is fluent in English and German.

Ado Jeginovic is well-known in the fly-fishing community, but I’ll start by describing him as a great friend and then as Bosnia’s best fly-fishing trout and grayling guide. Ado has devoted his life to promoting sustainable fly fishing tourism in his country and has been very successful in this endeavour. He is also an exceptional fly tier and rod builder. He is typically booked throughout the year, and for good reason. He and his team are my top recommendation if I’m unavailable for a trip to Bosnia.

D-r Huhen! Rok Sparovec is a medical doctor who rarely offers his guidance services. Without any doubt, his knowledge, considering endemic species such as marble trout and Danube salmon, is second to none. Rok is a very rare breed of angler possessing the know-how to catch the hardest and rarest of salmonids in our part of the world. It is mainly his fault that fly fishing for Huchen overtakes spin fishing over the Balkans for the last decade. Fluent in English.

Jure Sotic is a dedicated guide from Slovenia, specializing in marble trout and hucho fishing. We have shared many days on the water, collaborating during our guiding experiences. We both believe that for hucho fishing, it’s best for one guide to manage no more than two anglers. Therefore, when I have a group of four fishermen, Jure joins me as my partner, allowing us to provide a great experience on the water together! Additionally, Jure is a talented photographer, ensuring you’ll have stunning pictures of your dream catch. He is also fluent in English.

Blaz is an expert in marble trout fishing on the Idrijca and Soca Rivers, along with all their tributaries. He is also a passionate fly tier, and his fly boxes are a joy to see. He can guide you away from the crowded waters to some hidden Slovenian spots, ensuring a fantastic experience! He is my partner for the Marbelous trout-hosted trip that I organize each year at the beginning of the marble trout season. Blaz is fluent in English!

Sasa Bencun Roka is a true pioneer in the guiding industry and has significantly contributed to the promotion of fly fishing and rural tourism in Serbia. He operates a lovely lodge on the river Gradac and works as a guide. In the winter, he also serves as a ski instructor, so coaching is second nature to him. If I’m unable to guide you in that area, I highly recommend his services. He speaks both English and Russian.

Ivica Rajkovic is, to my knowledge, the best fly fisherman in Montenegro. He’s like a Montenegrin brother to me. We have fished together in numerous international competitions and have become great friends. If you’re interested in a trip to Montenegro and I cannot guide you, I highly recommend him. He is fluent in English.

Zac is the owner of the River Kupa Lodge in Croatia, located along the river Kupa. In addition to being an excellent guide, he is an outstanding chef and a passionate classic-style trout and grayling fisherman. It’s worth noting that he is also a true gentleman, making any time spent on the water or elsewhere with him a genuine pleasure! He is fluent in English.

When I lived in Cambridge, I met Oscar as a child, and we quickly became friends. I have fond memories of our time spent on the waters in the UK, which I often miss! He is now a certified game angling coach and operates Boatfield Fly Fishing. They provide unique and exclusive fly-fishing experiences on the stunning rivers of North Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales.
