Serbia- River Gradac

The river Gradac is the priceless precious stone of mountain ranges nearby Valjevo.
There are many roads leading to Serbia and Belgrade, its capital. From the west, you can came by bus or by train from Budapest to Belgrade, but the fastest way is flying by JAT-s planes from whichever world’s airport. There is a travel agency ‘’National’’ where you can book plane tickets but also rent a car. It takes about 100 minutes to come from Belgrade to Valjevo. Only six kilometers from Valjevo, on a picturesque hill, surrounded by one hundred year old forest and pastures. There is the monastery of Celije, and a little further (about 4 km) the monastery of ‘’Lelic’’. Peace, mountain air full with the fragrance of flowers and the rapid of the river Gradac which can be heard in the canyon depth, are only some of things which makes the place so special.

River Gradac flows through town Valjevo and flows into the river Kolubara. It is under protection of the state and it is one of the most famous fly fishing destinations in Serbia. It is a hidden Gem. Gradac almost never blurs, because it is 10km long. Indigenous species of fish include brown trout and grayling.

It is naturally made for fly fishing, having perfect runs and pools that allows a variety of techniques to be used –dry fly, wet fly, French nymph fishing are among the best methods to be used on the gin clear water. The river is catch and release only.  In the most attractive section of Gradac, deep in the canyon surrounded with forest, where our guest house is situated trout above 60 cm are caught recently.

We are offering a fully furnished house, situated in protected natural reserve. The house has 2 rooms (9 beds). In the smaller room there are 3 single and 1 double (martial bed). It has one bathroom and one shower cabin. It also has kitchen, one living-room and two terraces with view on the river.

Groups are limited, so we can treat the guests effectively. Seasson starts from April 1st till the end of September.

Transport from Belgrade to Valjevo could be aranged by us or you can rent a car, or take a cab to a bus station in Belgrade, and I would wait for you on bus station in Valjevo.

There is possibility of visiting other rivers in near area. In the vicinity (20-30km) there are several unprotected streams some of which are Scrapez, Rogacica and Tresnjica which are inhabited by wild trout. 70km away from Valjevo flow river Drina, famous for Taimen (Hucho hucho) and huge trout and grayling. Visits on these rivers could be arranged for any one who wishes.
