Fly Casting Courses

As many things in life like driving or swimming, everyone can learn faster and better if there is someone to explain and show you the essential skills. Casting with a fly rod is the same. It doesn`t matter if you are a complete beginner or advanced fly caster a lesson in fly casting from qualified instructor always will be helpful. It will help you to eliminate your mistakes, to achieve your aims and what is the most important to make you feel more confident and feel better when casting in real situation. Fly casting is one of the most important things in Fly fishing and believe it or not it is not as complicated as it sometimes looks like. I have qualifications for both EFFA and  AAPGAI instructor for casting with single handed rod and I organize individual courses as well as courses for two and more persons. The duration of the course depends on you and how much time you want to spend casting with me. I organize courses for beginners and intermediate skill levels. I can also help to someone who wants to pass a basic instructors test at EFFA or a provisional at AAPGAI.

Beginner Course is for those of you who feels beginner in the sport or handle a fly rod for first time. This course will teach you one thing for sure –to cast. It will also give you the confidence and the necessary knowledge to continue your fly casting education. The course includes:

  • How to set up our tackle. And which one to choose depend on the place we are planning to fish (rod, reel, backing, fly line, knots, leaders ect.)
  • Roll casting techniques (including techniques that will help you roll cast in windy conditions.)
  • Overhead casting techniques (including techniques that will help you cast in windy conditions.)
  • Different grips and body position
  • Health and safety when casting and fishing

We will also talk about what flies are used in different situations. How to read the waters, where we can find the fish, what are they feeding on, how to choose the right fly and everything else that you are interested to know about fly fishing and casting with a single handed rod.

I will supply you with all the tackle we need for the course. (Of course you can always take your rods, reels and lines if you prefer.)

Intermediate Course is suitable for everyone who has been casting before but wants to develop his/her skills and to learn something more. These courses can help you to correct your mistakes easy and fast. It is hard to look at yourself when casting and sometimes the answer is simple and the mistake easy to correct. The course includes:

  • Distance roll cast. Roll cast with haul
  • Overhead cast with single and double haul
  • Casting off both shoulders
  • Single and double spey off both shoulders
  • Snap T cast
  • C (circle) cast
  • Effective techniques for changing directions
  • Casting tight, sexy loops
  • How to practice left hand casting if you are right handed and the opposite.
  • Casting heavy flies -pike streamers, heavy nymphs ect.

Also everything else you are interested to know about fly casting with a single handed rod.

I will supply you with all the tackle we need for the course. (Of course you can always take your rods, reels and lines if you prefer.)

During the course I will do my best to improve your casting to help you as much as possible and of course to have fun. Everyone who thinks that he/she does not learn anything during the course and it does not help him/her at all will receive his/her money back.

Two persons course
60 EU per hour; 70 EU for 2 hours;120 EU for half a day 4-5 hours ;150 EU for all day -8 hours
From three to five persons course70 EU per hour; 80 EU for 2 hours; 150 EU for half a day 4-5 hours ;180 EU for all day -8 hours
